Diocesan Strategy

"How is God calling us to be the Church to the people living in our diocese"

The purpose of the Diocese's strategy engagement is to engage parishes and communities in a conversation, to help clearly identify what we have learned from living through a global pandemic, and to identify how effective the previous five-year diocesan strategy has been, where there has been any impact and what changes we need to make as we plan for the future.

Our primary question is, “What can the diocese central function do to help our parishes, benefices and deaneries to flourish?”

Bishop Richard will be hosting 10 listening events at a number of venues across our diocese.

The Bishop seeks to visit as many locations as possible and will be there to affirm the prayer life of our churches and to encourage the mission and ministry of the diocese as well as listening and learning first hand to the challenges and opportunities faced in our many parishes.

If you would like to join one of the listening events, please register your interest and preferred venue using the eventbrite booking option - which goes live on Monday 4 October  Some of the venues are restricted by numbers.

Who can come?

Everyone is welcome to attend a listening event.  Bishop Richard is particularly keen to meet and talk to people at each venue and to hear how parishes have responded during the pandemic as well as learning what the diocesan central function can do to help parishes, benefices and deaneries to flourish.  To set a clear context this is about working together to support and grow parish life and working out where best to use our limited resources both people and money.
